  1. Oh boy … I would leave the boobies out of it. That one lingers with the baby mommas, weeks-years-months later they still miss ‘em. And there’s also the matter of how they tend to become fuller and heavier during the pregnancy and much more so afterward if she is breastfeeding.

I know what you mean about there being many more books for moms-to-be than dads-to-be, but on this side of the Atlantic we have a few choices that you may want to check out: Armin Brott’s “The Expectant Father” is one of them. There’s another by my friend Joe Kelly aka “The Dad Man” I forget the names of all his books, but you should be able to find him by starting with his first book “Dads and Daughters.”

Another one that I enjoyed immensely is actually geared toward teens, but it’s by a British Author that you have surely heard of, Nick Hornby. The book is called “Slam” and it is a fictional account of (unplanned) pregnancy, relationships, birth and even a bit of fatherhood itself. And all of it is told by a kid who talks to Tony Hawk like he’s God.

Anyway, long comment … it’s a good blog, I’m glad you found me to let me know about it. I’ll be back, maybe even send some others your way.

  2. Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog :)

I loved what you said about being the proud owner of… your blog really made me laugh!

Congratulations on your pregnancy as well.

    Thank you,
    Laura

  3. Thanks for commenting on my blob :) Yep, I’m due on 27th April, just hit Week 32.

You have a great writing style – I’ll try to get my man to read your blog but no promises! Whenever I say “hey, you should read this…..” I’m pretty sure he inwardly rolls his eyes and groans! *sigh*

So is your wife at Week 9 or 32?

    Jess

    • Jess – she’s actually Week 32, but it was only recently I decided to post extracts from a book I’m writing in the hope of drumming up a little publicity!

      Glad you like it!

  4. Hi! I came here from Bloggeries. I haven’t seen a blog on this subject yet. I do agree with JP about the breasts thing.

On the positive side, I think many dads-to-be and dads with little ones will enjoy reading this. I would also enjoy seeing some pictures of your wife and also your son. That would make it even better. Thanks for posting this! It is a neat idea.

    • A couple of people mentioned the breasts thing, but my mrs actually came up with that title! It’s just a humorous title for a humorous blog, not meant to offend.

  5. Love the blog! Great idea!

As a pregnant woman I am not offended in the least about the breast title.. I find it quite funny and joke with my husband about it all the time!

  6. Thanks for the comment on my blog!
You really make me laugh and I LOVE your writing style! Its so honest and true. I’m going to make my husband read everything…I think he will be able to relate.

  7. ‘Goodbye, pert breasts’ – never a truer word said!!!! Why hide it?
Great blog and the best of luck – I stopped at two boys, but it feels like five!

  8. Yes…I remember the days of pert breasts and mourn….but I look at my two beautiful ‘children’ (20 yrs and 22 yrs) and remember the months of breastfeeding, and know in my heart that my saggy boobs are worth it :)

  9. Hi Ben,

Thanks for having a look at my blog and for your encouraging comment. Have had a really quick squiz at yours, (love the title!) and will be coming back later to have a proper read of your previous posts (at work now and feel I should be not reading blogs!)

    Cheers m’dear!

  10. Hi Ben and family :-)

loving your blog we bounty girls enjoy it and i’ve read a few posts to hubby.

good luck with bringing another boy into the world. i’m currently only 17 and a half weeks but your male side of pregnancy is really great and i love how honest you are with how you and Jen are handling it.

    keep blogging!!

  11. Hahaha nice blog, will definitely be checking it out more. Hope the experience doesn’t kill you since I’d love to see the book on shelves someday!

  12. Hi Ben! Thanks for visiting my little, tiny blog. I really, really appreciate your honesty. I find myself wanting to edit my thoughts because the parent “moral police” seem to be everywhere. You give me courage!

  13. Just stopping by to have a quick read, and find your blog to be excellent! My fiancé would love to have a read – I’m going to give him a link to it.

Love your humour, and look forward to reading more (although my feed thing fails, and i’m not very tech savvy) so I’ll bookmark it instead :)

Would be fab if you decided to drop by my blog(s) sometime – not quite as enjoyable a read, I wouldn’t have thought, but would be nice to have some feedback all the same.

Keep up the good blog! :)

    Hannah

  14. Okay so i admit that it was the blog name that drew me in, any website with pert and breasts is always worth a look – but its a fantastic read, keep up the good work.

  15. The blog title drew me in too, since after kids they AREN’T pert. Like what comments and snippets I’ve read, can’t wait for time to read more.
