Ryan Fontaine, Bow resident and owner of Fontaine Construction, walks past Old City Hall every day. He noticed that the roof was in poor condition and needed to be replaced.
He stopped at City Hall to ask for plans to replace the roof and was told other priorities needed to be taken care of first. So he made an offer the city couldn’t refuse – his company would replace the roof of the historic meeting house on Bow Center Road for free.
Fontaine, who has lived in Bow for 20 years with his wife and children, owns a business specializing in renovations, roofing and window installation. After a successful year, Fontaine said he was well positioned to do the roof replacement at no cost. He said he strongly believes in giving back to the community.
“Replacing the roof is part of our business and I offered it to the city because I thought it would be a good thing to do,” Fontaine said.
City manager David Stack said Fontaine’s donation allows Bow to use funds that have been set aside for the roof replacement elsewhere. The roof replacement was expected to cost approximately $14,000.
“We’re grateful and we have a lot of good people in town volunteering their time and service,” Stack said.
