Former “Cheer” star Jerry harris look to a new future.
You may recall Harris was a beloved actor in the 2020 Netflix hit docuseries “Cheer,” which told the story of the cheerleaders of Team Navarro College Bulldogs Cheer in Corsicana, TX.
The team is led by “drill sergeant” Monica Aldama.
Harris was a fan favorite and went viral for his “mat talks”, where he showed his support and encouragement to his teammates.
He has also appeared on shows such as “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, “Good Morning America”, the “Today Show” and he even won a Critics’ Choice Award for Male Star of the Year in 2020.

However, this shocking September news about Harris’ personal life caused a tidal wave in the cheering community and the entertainment industry.
USA today announced that Harris was under an FBI investigation into allegations he solicited sexually explicit photos and sex with minors.
Jerry was arrested on a federal child pornography charge for allegedly instigating a minor to produce explicit videos and photos of himself.
According to a press release from the United States Attorney General for the Northern District of Illinois, officials said the minor informed Harris during their online encounters that he was only 13 at the time.
And the criminal complaint, which was obtained by E! News, also said Harris admitted to asking one of the alleged victims to take explicit photos and videos via Snapchat, knowing the minor was only 13 years old.

According to the press release from the public prosecutor, “the production of child pornography is punishable by a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years”.
He pleaded not guilty to federal felony charges in Chicago for attempting to entice minors for sexual purposes and sharing sexually explicit photos with them.
Harris is still awaiting trial on child pornography charges, but according to his co-stars, he remains optimistic.

The disgraced “Cheer” star intends to become a motivational speaker.
Aldama reveals in season 2 of “Cheer” that Harris wrote him a letter.
“He wrote me a letter and it was hard to read,” coach Aldama said. “His letter was so optimistic. As if there was nothing negative in this letter. He said he hopes to one day be a motivational speaker.
Aldama admits she was taken “off guard” by her letter and felt emotionally torn.
“I want to lend my support,” Almada explained, “Yet I’m so disappointed… I have all these emotions fighting against each other.”
Season 2 of “Cheer” will be released on Netflix on January 12.
