Macroeconomic stability is top priority, Miftah tells businessmen – Breaking News – The Nation
ISLAMABAD – Federal Finance and Revenue Minister Miftah Ismail has said that the current government is focused on achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth by presenting a pro-people and business-friendly budget.
He held a meeting with a delegation of businessmen at the Finance Division. Zubair Motiwala, Fawad Anwar, Mohammad Ali Tabba, Shahid Shoort and Zaki Bashir, Commerce Secretary, FBR Chairman and senior executives attended the meeting. The Minister of Finance welcomed the businessmen and stressed that macroeconomic stability is the top priority of the current government and that the government is focused on ensuring financial discipline through effective and social policies to achieve the level of economic growth. He added that the current government is aware of the problems in the business world and the obstacles to the expansion of economic activities in the country. He assured the businessmen that the current government is committed to providing a business-friendly environment for the expansion of economic activities in the country.
Members of the business community presented various proposals for consideration in the 2022-2023 federal budget and suggested measures to bring greater efficiency in various sectors. They were also briefed on some tax-related issues faced by the business community in the country. The Minister of Finance recognized the contribution of the business community to the growth of economic activity in the country and welcomed the budgetary suggestions for various sectors of the economy. The Minister of Finance further stated that the current government is focused on achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth by presenting a pro-people and business-friendly budget; therefore, suggestions from all stakeholders will be given due consideration. The Minister of Finance stressed the business community for improving exports to achieve economic growth and stability of foreign exchange reserves. In another development, Wang Jie, Country Head and CEO, Bank of China Pakistan Operations, called Federal Finance and Revenue Minister Miftah Ismail to the finance division. The finance minister welcomed Wang Jie and underlined the deep economic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and China. He further hailed the Bank of China’s contribution to Pakistan’s financial and economic progress. The Minister of Finance further assured him of the full support and cooperation of the current government. Wang Jie, Country Head and CEO, Bank of China Pakistan Operations, briefed the Minister on the Bank’s portfolio and appreciated the government’s support. The meeting also exchanged views on the current international and regional economic situation. They also discussed Pakistan’s economy and policy to attract foreign direct investment. CPEC was also discussed and it was pointed out that the corridor will be another milestone in consolidating the bilateral economic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and China and bring prosperity to the two countries.
